MMNA to end production of the Eclipse and Endeavor this week.

NORMAL -- The last of the Eclipse coupes, Spyder convertibles and Endeavor SUVs will roll off Mitsubishi assembly lines at the end of the week.

The Normal plant will then begin a retooling process that will result in the production of the Outlander Sport crossover SUV by mid-2012. Mitsubishi Motors North America will produce the Galant for about another year.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

MMNA spokesman Dan Irvin said the plant's 1,300 workers are somewhat sentimental as they say goodbye to the current models, but are excited about the future. In February, Japanese parent company Mitsubishi Motors Corp. announced a $100 million investment in the plant to produce the Outlander Sport.

"The Eclipse and Spyder are something our brand was identified with," said Irvin. "But I think everybody is looking ahead and focuses very much on that. Whether you get a new job, or house, or appliance, or car, you're more excited about the new one and the opportunities to come than dwelling on what got you this far."

The Eclipse, Spyder and Endeavor will be available for purchase through at least the end of 2011, and MMNA will continue to make service parts for those models for six to seven years, said Irvin.

2008 Mitsubishi Full Line Overview [US]

2008 Mitsubishi Full Line Overview

October 30, 2007 -- Cypress, Calif. --
Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) enters the 2008 model year with a fortified product portfolio and buoyed by rising retail sales through 2007. The company has introduced six new or redesigned models over the last two years, most recently the all-new Lancer in spring 2007, and before that the Outlander crossover SUV and the Eclipse Spyder. Mitsubishi will show more new models at the upcoming major auto shows.

All-New Lancer

Mitsubishi last spring introduced the all-new, 2008 Lancer compact sedan, delivering sporty dynamics, "class-up" value, advanced safety and available cutting-edge user-technology in an aggressively styled package. For the fall, the 2008 mid-line Lancer ES model gains an optional new Technology and Appearance Package, bundling a number of user technology features from the GTS model with a rear trunk lip spoiler, chrome exhaust tip and chrome beltline accents.

The 2008 Lancer is based on a performance-engineered global platform that also forms the foundation of the Outlander SUV and will underpin the upcoming next-generation Lancer Evolution model. A "shark-nosed" front end inspired by jet fighter air intakes, a distinct wedge-like profile and crisp, taut lines highlight the Lancer's exciting new design.

The 2008 Lancer is available as the value-minded DE, the well-equipped ES and the sport-tuned GTS. All models are powered by a new 2.0-liter 152 hp aluminum DOHC MIVEC 4-cylinder engine (143 hp PZEV in Calif.) teamed to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Lancer offers an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT), that, in the GTS model, exclusively features a 6-step Sportronic® mode using magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters. The GTS features sport-tuned suspension, 18-in. alloy wheels and larger 4-wheel disc brakes, plus front and side air dams, fog lights, a rear spoiler and a chrome tailpipe tip.

Standard safety features for all Lancer models include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags, a driver's knee air bag, plus a tire pressure monitor system. The ES and GTS models add a standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), which is available for the DE.

All Lancer models for 2008 come pre-wired for SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, which is included with the 650-Watt (max.), Rockford-Fosgate® Premium Audio system available for the ES and GTS models. Other high-tech options for the ES and GTS include a 30-gigabyte hard drive navigation system with digital music server and the FAST Key (Freehand Advanced Security Transmitter) entry system. A Bluetooth® wireless technology cell phone interface system with voice recognition for hands-free calling is standard for the GTS and available for the ES.

Next-Generation Lancer Evolution

Mitsubishi is introducing the 2008 Lancer Evolution, the newest and most sophisticated version of the legendary high-performance model series that began 16 years ago. The newest Evolution debuted at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and enters the United States later this fall. While remaining true to the core values that have made the Lancer Evolution synonymous with thrilling performance, the next-generation model offers all-around capability and user technology that distinguish the world's best performance models.

The strikingly styled 2008 Lancer Evolution showcases new performance and handling technology, including an all-new 295-hp (est.) 2.0-liter turbocharged/intercooled engine and the Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) dynamic handling system. S-AWC offers an extraordinary level of control at each wheel, going well beyond the capabilities of other all-wheel drive systems.

The S-AWC system regulates drive torque at each wheel by controlling a network of dynamic handling technologies, including: Active Center Differential (ACD) 4-wheel drive, Active Yaw Control (AYC) rear differential, Active Stability Control (ASC), and Sport ABS brakes. Integration of ASC is new for all markets.

The new Lancer Evolution looks the part of a street-wise sports machine with its unique front end, aggressively sloping hood with integral air scoop and engine heat outlets, boxed fenders and 18-inch wheels. The basic all-new Lancer platform - already stiffer than the previous-generation Lancer Evolution IX - is further reinforced for the 2008 Lancer Evolution. In addition, the roof, hood, front fenders and both the front and rear bumper beams are aluminum. The battery and windshield washer fluid tank are mounted in the trunk area for better weight distribution.

Two Lancer Evolution models will be offered in the U.S. market for 2008: the GSR with a new 5-speed manual transmission and the Lancer Evolution MR with a new 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST), a new-generation automated manual transmission. The MR model is also equipped exclusively with Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors for better heat dissipation, BBS forged-alloy wheels, HID headlamps and additional interior features.

Outlander ES 2.4 Debuts

Mitsubishi introduced the next-generation Outlander crossover SUV for model year 2007 and for 2008 is adding a new 4-cylinder ES model. Available with 2WD or three-mode 4WD, the Outlander ES is powered by a new 2.4-liter DOHC MIVEC engine teamed with a Sportronic® continuously variable transmission (CVT). All Outlander models come standard with front-wheel drive and Active Stability Control (ASC) with electronic traction control (TCL).

The Outlander blends sporty dynamics, bold styling, five- or seven-passenger versatility, plus advanced user technology and onboard entertainment options. An aluminum roof lowers the center of gravity for better handling response. The segment's only flap-fold tailgate helps make loading cargo easier and can also serve as a tailgate seat that supports up to 440 lbs.

The 2008 Outlander LS and XLS models continue with a standard 220-hp 3.0-liter MIVEC V-6 (213 hp for PZEV-certified model) and 6-speed Sportronic automatic transmission, with the XLS featuring magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters. The Outlander was the first PZEV V-6 SUV offered in the U.S. On Outlander XLS models, 18-in. aluminum-alloy wheels are standard.

All Outlander models gain redesigned interior door panels with cloth inserts for 2008, with new chrome inner door handles for XLS. On LS models, the FAST Key entry system is now standard. An MP3/auxiliary input jack is newly standard for LS and XLS models, and all 4WD models get heated exterior mirrors.

Standard Outlander safety features include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags (front and second row), plus energy-absorbing head protection interior pillars, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The Eclipse GT models gain standard 18-inch alloy wheels for 2008, and the optional SE Package for the GT now includes Active Stability Control (ASC). SIRIUS Satellite Radio is now included with the available 650-watt (max.) Rockford-Fosgate Premium Audio system (standard in Spyder models), with a 6-month pre-paid subscription.

Eclipse is offered as the GS and the high-performance GT. The GS model's 162-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is teamed with a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic. The GT's 3.8-liter MIVEC V-6 produces 263 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of peak torque (260 hp and 258 lb.-ft. in Spyder due to a different exhaust system) and is teamed with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 5-speed automatic. Both Eclipse automatic transmissions feature Sportronic shifters to allow manual gearshift control.

Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all models, with anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), plus larger, ventilated rear discs on the GT. All Eclipse models for 2008 gain a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Eclipse combines exotic-looking interior design with comfort and safety, including standard advanced dual-stage front air bags, seat-mounted side air bags and front seat curtain side air bags. In the coupe, the 50:50 split-folding rear seatbacks provide cargo versatility.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder is equipped with a high-tech convertible top and additional feature content over the coupe models. The automatic cloth top folds completely out of sight under a flush-fitting powered tonneau cover in about 19 seconds. Its multi-layer construction with full headliner and glass rear window for the quiet, snug interior feeling of a coupe when it is raised.

Galant Ralliart Challenges Premium Sport Sedans

The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart spearheads the Galant mid-size sedan line, which for 2008 also includes the 4-cylinder DE and ES models. The GTS model is discontinued.

The Galant achieved 5-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded Galant its highest ranking (Good) in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests.

Galant Ralliart is powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter MIVEC V-6 engine and equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic, plus Ralliart-tuned sport suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and exclusive exterior styling.

The Galant DE and ES models are powered by a 160-hp 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder engine teamed to a four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic.

In the Galant Ralliart, standard luxury amenities include perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control system, power glass sunroof and an auto- dimming rear view mirror with Homelink transmitter. The standard Rockford Acoustic Design™ premium audio system includes SIRIUS Satellite Radio with a 6-month pre-paid subscription. The Galant Ralliart offers one factory option, a DVD navigation system.

Mitsubishi Endeavor Crossover SUV Gets Highest Safety Ratings

The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a crossover-type mid-size SUV that combines car-like driving dynamics with impressive comfort, safety, room and versatility. Powered by a 225-hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine teamed to a standard 4-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic mode, Endeavor is available with front-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive.

New for 2008, front-wheel drive Endeavor models gain the Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC) system, which was already standard on the all-wheel drive models. Also for 2008, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, with 6-month pre-paid service, is included with the Endeavor SE, which also offers a luxurious new two-tone leather seating option.

Endeavor is available as the well-equipped LS model and the luxurious SE, which features standard leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, a power driver's seat, and a 360-watt Rockford Acoustic Design Premium Audio System with 6-disc in-dash CD changer and steering wheel audio controls. The SE offers an optional Sunroof Package and Navigation Package.

Endeavor achieved 5-star ratings for frontal (driver) and side impact (front and rear seat) NHTSA crash tests. The IIHS awarded Endeavor its highest ranking (Good) in its frontal offset crash test.

Mitsubishi Evolander Concept at 2006 SEMA

Mitsubishi Motors' Evolander Concept Headlines A Strong Display Of Customized And Race-prepped Vehicles At The 2006 Sema Show

All-New 2007 Outlander gets EVO-ived, Race-prepped Raider Pickup debuts prior to competing in Baja 1000

October 31, 2006 -- LAS VEGAS --
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) addresses the tuner market by presenting an exciting new Evolander concept vehicle, the off-road race-ready Baja Raider truck, the Feast Audio "i" minicar, the LOUD-lander by Rockford Fosgate and several new Special Edition models at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

"The Evolander builds upon the reputation that the Lancer Evolution sedan has built among tuners and car enthusiasts. Like the Evo, the Evolander boasts a forced induction engine, electronic all-wheel drive, and a tuned suspension that deliver on its Evo-ness," said Dan Sims, managing director of Mitsubishi Research and Design America. "A vehicle like Evolander, which blends Evolution-style design cues and sport SUV themes, might help inspire tuners to apply their wares to the compact SUV segment."

Evolander
Headlining the marquee of Mitsubishi's SEMA display is the Evolander concept. This unique vehicle, created by the Mitsubishi Research and Design of America (MRDA) team in Cypress, California started life as a 2007 Outlander, which is an all-new addition to Mitsubishi's line-up that goes on sale in November. The creative minds at MRDA sought to infuse the Evolander concept with performance elements and design cues inspired by Mitsubishi's omnipotent, race-ready, super-sedan, the Lancer Evolution. An exploratory concept, the Evolander represents the design and engineering possibilities of what could be an Outlander Ralliart production model in the future.

For the Evolander, the output of the Outlander's 3.0-liter V6 engine (normally rated at 220 hp) swells to 300 hp with the help of an ATI/Roadrace Engineering Procharger system that uses a centrifugal compressor to produce 6 psi of boost. The increased power is fed through a 6-speed automatic transmission that is actuated by the same magnesium-alloy paddle shifters that will be equipped on the next generation performance model. The Evolander puts power to pavement using Mitsubishi's newest electronically-controlled AWD system offering exceptional, rally-car like roadholding in an SUV. The list of Evolander's dynamic enhancements also includes a Roadrace Engineering/Muellerized coilover suspension system that enhances handling to help dice corners with precision and exceptional control. The Evolander rides on lightweight 20-inch OZ wheels wrapped in high performance Yokohama Advan ST performance rubber. Brembo's new 6-piston monobloc-style brakes squeeze massive cross-drilled front rotors, and a set of cross-drilled rear rotors were added to help bring the vehicle to a swift, safe sudden halt.

The Evolander's exterior design follows along an "urban performance" theme, and shares several characteristics with the Lancer Evolution sedan. The Evolander's fascia design mimics that of the Evolution vehicles with its cavernous cooling and brake duct intakes and an aggressively vented hood. The Lancer Evolution also lends its iconic, rally-inspired, box flares to the Evolander, increasing the width of the vehicle at the fenders by 28 mm. The Evolander also features a more aggressive aerodynamic treatment, with lowered side sills, fender vents, a rear diffuser and a Ralliart rear spoiler that add a "sporty urban" look to the SUV.

The Evolander's stylish interior fuses sporting elements of Evolution with the technology features found on Outlander. Recaro Sport form fitting, reclining racing seats cradle and support driver and passenger helping improve a driver's seating position and vehicle control during aggressive driving. The interior still maintains full use of the 2007 Outlander's new 30 GB hard-drive navigation system (with 1200 song music storage capability), as well as the rear DVD entertainment system, and the eardrum-rattling Rockford Fosgate 650 watt audio system.

Baja Raider
The Mitsubishi Motors display at the 2006 SEMA Show also features the Baja Raider, a competition version of the Raider truck campaigned by DXR (Desert Xtreme Racing). The Baja Raider will compete in the SCORE Stock Mini category at the Baja 1000 (November 16th), which closely regulates the modifications that can be made to this relatively showroom-stock class of off-road race truck. For the Stock Mini class, rules require that vehicle's V6 drivetrains remain mostly factory specification while various other chassis modifications are permitted to the truck such as suspension and safety enhancements. Consistent with the class rules, the Baja Raider sports a rugged 3.7-liter V6 under the hood; the engine receives basic induction and exhaust enhancements to improve response. The Baja Raider's transmission and 4WD system relies on the same durable hardware found on a showroom Raider.

The suspension revisions will allow the Baja Raider to maintain a swift pace over the harsh terrain of the Baja peninsula. The front suspension's travel is maximized and dampened with the help of King Customs 2.5-inch coilover racing shocks and triple bypass racing shocks to help control wheel travel over the harshest terrain. At the rear of the Baja Raider, the truck's solid rear axle is supported by King custom 3" triple-valved race shocks, Deaver racing leaf springs and Mastercraft limit straps.

A tireless attention to detail is evident in the Stock Mini class Baja Raider which is the result of about 1200+ man-hours of preparation. Tireless also describes the behind-the-wheel iron-man effort we can expect to see from DXR's Dan Fresh who will drive the entire length of the Baja 1000 course without a co-driver. With 10 years of competition under his belt, Fresh is no stranger to the rigors of desert racing and has enjoyed several class championships as well as previous success in the Baja 1000. "The Baja 1000 is about as grueling a challenge as off-road racing can offer," said Fresh. "That desert certainly tests equipment, it is also a contest of skill, preparation, determination and guile. There are no easy victories in the Baja, and we feel can be very competitive with the Baja Raider."

LOUD-lander by Rockford Fosgate
Simply put, LOUD-lander is the world's loudest Outlander. Harnessing 2700 watts of total system power through 18 speakers, LOUD-lander practically weaponizes a vehicle's "sound system." Rumor has it that at full song the LOUD-lander's sonic fury is capable of loosening dental fillings and deforming contact lenses. This epic audio system relies on five amplifiers (two 450 watt units and three 600 watt units) to power twelve Rockford Fosgate Punch P162S 6 3/4 inch speakers and six Rockford Fosgate Punch P215S4 15" sub woofers. Both the speakers and the subwoofers are constructed using a molded polypropylene cone mated to a stamped steel frame for improved durability, deep, consistent bass and high performance. The LOUD-lander's awesome power is enhanced with a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 Interactive Signal Processor that helps provide outstanding clarity and sound definition for this Herculean compact SUV audio system.

FEAST/ ROAR "I"
Direct from Japan to the SEMA show floor, the FEAST "i" minicar shows how exciting the diminutive "kei" class of vehicles can be. The "i" is powered by a turbocharged 660cc, 3 cylinder engine, as specified by vehicle class limitations. Output on the FEAST "i" is estimated at about 70 hp, which is directed to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. It is the unique rear-midship engine placement of "i" that allowed designers to maximize the interior space upon the vehicle's rather long 2550 mm wheelbase. Despite exterior dimensions (3300 mm long by 1400 mm wide) limited by vehicle class constraints, the "i"'s intelligent packaging design affords interior space for four adults with while maintaining class-leading handling, safety and urban manueverability. The innovative design of the "i" minicar has already earned several awards in Japan including the prestigious "Good Design Grand Prize 2006" (awarded by the Japanese minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry) which awards the most significant design across all of Japanese industry, not merely automotive.

The FEAST "i" receives exterior enhancements such as ROAR front spoiler, air dam extension, side sills, and rear air dam. A FEAST designed carbon fiber hood and vinyl decal kit finish off the unique exterior of the "i".

In addition, the FEAST "i " is equipped with a BLITZ dual outlet exhaust system that provides a baritone rumble for this tiny vehicle, and the car's ride and handling is also enhanced for better cornering with the addition of a Blitz Super Flex Suspension kit.

With an interior that looks more like the cockpit of a small spaceship than a passenger car, the FEAST "i" offers drivers a unique and futuristic operating space. The interior surfaces (door panels, center console, etc.) feature a custom pastel interior finish, as well as numerous new speaker locations that are connected to an Alpine audio system. The Alpine head unit is mounted in a custom dashpod and an Alpine equalizer is mounted in a custom center console. A Panasonic center monitor resides in a custom built dash-top mounted centerpiece, and additional LCD monitors are located in a custom-built package tray/speaker enclosure at the rear of the vehicle. A pair of Recaro seats and steering wheel round out the interior enhancements.

Eclipse Sport Edition and Endeavor Special Edition
Mitsubishi's SEMA display will features two special trim levels of current models we might see in showrooms in the very near future. The Eclipse Sport Edition is revised with several exterior enhancements such a chin spoiler, a larger rear wing, and a graphic package. With 19-inch wheels and the aero kit, the vehicle displays a more athletic stance. The Eclipse Sport edition's interior has been restyled with a black and terra cotta color scheme.

The Endeavor Special Edition applies "V.I.P.-look" themes to Mitsubishi's mid-sized SUV, the made-in-America Endeavor. A unique billet aluminum grille, a very deep hue of black, deletion of roof rails, subtle use of chrome finish, a rear roof edge spoiler, and larger 20-inch wheels complete the dramatic exterior look of this Endeavor. The vehicle's interior is revised with an upscale treatment thanks to a two-tone, black and cream door panel and seating surface treatment with cream stitching.

Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV Gains New Safety Technology For 2007

October 12, 2006 -- CYPRESS, Calif. --
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has made its Endeavor model an even more compelling choice in the mid-size crossover SUV segment by equipping all models with standard rollover-sensing curtain side air bags and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Endeavor all-wheel drive models in addition gain the advanced Active Skid and Traction Control (ASTC) system as standard equipment for even better all-weather driving stability and safety.

In addition to enhancing the Endeavor's safety technology, Mitsubishi has re-aligned the Endeavor model line to provide even better customer value - including making a navigation system available for the first time. Building on the styling revisions of the 2006 model year, the 2007 Endeavor's trim level offerings have been revised to offer richer content and greater value with the launch of the Special Edition (SE) Value Package.

"The Endeavor crossover SUV is an attractive choice for family buyers and those concerned about safety given that the vehicle has already received some of the industry's highest safety ratings," said Dan Kuhnert, senior vice president of sales and fixed operations of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA). The Endeavor has achieved five-star ratings for frontal (driver) and side impact (front and rear seat) crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded Endeavor its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset crash test.

The sporty Endeavor combines driving dynamics superior to truck-type SUVs, along with impressive comfort, room and flexibility. Endeavor provides ample power and all-weather traction capability, whether in standard front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, to handle the hazards of rough weather and some off-pavement driving. The core engineering that makes Endeavor enjoyable to drive reflects Mitsubishi's renowned motorsports expertise. In 2006, Mitsubishi scored its sixth consecutive win in the Paris-to-Dakar off-road endurance race in a special competition-built SUV.

New SE Model in Three Versions

The Endeavor entry model for 2007 remains the well-equipped LS. New for 2007, the Endeavor SE Value Package builds upon the generous LS feature content and is in addition offered in SE with Sunroof Package and SE with Sunroof Package and Navigation System configurations.

All Endeavor SE models come with standard leather seating surfaces, heated front seats and side mirrors and a power driver's seat. The SE models will delight music buffs with the standard new 360-watt Rockford Acoustic Design(TM) premium audio system featuring steering wheel audio controls, plus SIRIUS(R) Satellite Radio, with a pre-paid six-month service subscription. For added convenience, SE models also get a standard multi-information display integrating readouts for a compass, outside temperature, a trip computer and maintenance recorder. This feature also provides an interface that allows customizing settings for many of the vehicle's interior functions.

Externally, Endeavor shows off styling detail refinements for 2007, including color-keyed bumpers on the LS model, and chrome grille trim, color-keyed door handles, side mirrors and rear license plate garnish on SE models. Inside - again building on the extensive enhancements made for the 2006 model year - the Endeavor LS model gains premium seat fabric, and all models feature redesigned door panels.

Agility, Space and Safety

Endeavor's 108.3-inch wheelbase contributes to a spacious rear seat area, featuring a generous 38.5 inches of legroom. The Endeavor's large doors and ideal ride height facilitate easy entry and exit. The driver and front passenger benefit from an elevated command seating position, and front seats are among the widest in the segment. Endeavor's unibody construction and four-wheel independent suspension ensure a comfortable, quiet ride and confident handling.

The low-mounted, multi-link rear suspension reduces protrusion into the rear cargo area. Hydroformed crossmembers help minimize road noise and improve suspension performance by reinforcing the rear suspension mounting points to reduce flex. Standard 17-inch, five-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels mount 235/65 R17 all-season tires.

All Endeavor models come equipped with an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags. All models include as standard an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).

Power and Traction for All Conditions

The Endeavor's 3.8-liter, SOHC V-6 engine generates 225 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 255 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 3,750 rpm. With abundant torque available at lower engine speeds, Endeavor yields responsive yet relaxed performance, along with quiet powertrain operation. The standard four-speed automatic transmission features a Sportronic(R) mode that allows the driver to control gear shifting manually when desired.

Endeavor is available in front-wheel-drive or full-time all-wheel-drive configurations for improved wet weather handling and light-duty off-road capability. The standard traction control system (TCL) on all Endeavor models provides a "virtual" limited-slip differential effect by helping to prevent wheel spin during start up and acceleration in slippery conditions.

In the all-wheel drive Endeavor models, a transfer case combines a bevel-gear center differential with a viscous coupling to provide a 50:50 torque split between the front and rear wheels. This full-time automatic system provides optimal grip on all road surfaces, and in all weather. Wheel slippage at either set of wheels causes the viscous coupling to transfer more power to the opposite set. The combination of all-wheel drive with ASTC gives Endeavor an especially useful traction advantage in slippery driving conditions.

The advanced ASTC system in the all-wheel drive Endeavor models helps to keep the vehicle traveling in the driver's intended direction by helping to prevent side slipping (spin and side drift) as a result of sudden steering wheel operation or on slippery roads. The system takes data input from a number of sensors, including steering angle, individual wheel speed and yaw, as well as from the powertrain electronic control unit (ECU). If the onboard sensors detect side-slip, ASTC helps the driver maintain direction through braking and throttle corrections.

Room for the Family - and Their Stuff

Endeavor was designed to handle families or outdoors enthusiasts with equal ease. The rear tailgate swings upward to reveal a versatile cargo area that can accommodate a four-foot-wide sheet of plywood or very large packages. The curved rear hatch glass can be opened independently of the rear tailgate. With the 60/40 split rear folding seatbacks folded, Endeavor offers 76.4 cu. ft. of cargo capacity, with 40.7 cu. ft. available when all seatbacks are up.

The roomy front center console provides additional storage, and all Endeavor models come equipped with four 12v power outlets (three in cabin and one in cargo area). Standard roof rails are included on all Endeavor trim lines, and crossbars are available as an accessory.

Outstanding Value

The Endeavor LS is one of the most comprehensively equipped models in the segment, featuring as standard: air conditioning with rear heater ducts; cruise control with steering wheel controls; power windows with driver's auto-down; power mirrors and door locks; 140-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3 capability and six speakers; keyless entry with integrated remote key; tubular roof rails, a color-keyed stone guard. Details such as the standard front mudguards, auto-off headlights, front floormats, rear seat center armrest and multiple folding assist grips are strong reminders that the entry Endeavor is hardly a "base" model.

In addition to all SE equipment described on page 2, the SE Sunroof Package upgrade combines a power glass sunroof, fog lamps, a retracting cargo cover and seven-spoke alloy wheels (in place of the standard five-spoke design). The SE Navigation Package upgrade is a new DVD-based navigation system featuring a seven-inch LCD touch screen. The navigation system features male or female voice guidance and a choice among English, Spanish or French languages. This versatile system also replaces the functions of the standard trip computer.

All 2007 Endeavor SE models are equipped with a standard towing prep package featuring an automatic transmission cooler, differential oil cooler, increased radiator capacity (AWD Models only) and a trailer hitch wiring harness. The front-wheel drive Endeavor SE models can tow a trailer up to 2000 lbs., and the all-wheel drive models raise that to 3,500 lbs.

All Endeavor models are built in the Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., one of the industry's most flexible assembly plants. This facility produces four different models: Endeavor; Eclipse coupe and Spyder, and the Galant mid-size sedan.

Premium Warranty

Mitsubishi cars, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are backed by comprehensive new vehicle limited warranties. Mitsubishi cars and sport utility vehicles come with a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty, along with a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty. Mitsubishi pickup trucks are covered by a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty that also includes powertrain components. All Mitsubishi vehicles have a 7-year /100,000 mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, along with 5-years/unlimited miles Roadside Assistance, which includes free towing to the nearest authorized Mitsubishi retailer.

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor At-A-Glance

The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a crossover-type mid-size sport-utility vehicle that combines car-like driving dynamics with impressive comfort, room and flexibility. Unibody construction and four-wheel independent suspension ensure a smooth, quiet ride. Endeavor is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with all AWD models gaining the advanced Active Skid and Traction Control (ASTC) to augment the traction control that is standard on all models.

Also new for 2007, all Endeavor models are equipped with standard rollover-sensing curtain side air bags (augmenting front seat-mounted side air bags) and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Endeavor achieved five-star ratings for frontal impact (driver) and side impact (front and rear seat positions) in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded Endeavor its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset crash test.

Mitsubishi has re-aligned the 2007 Endeavor model line to provide even better customer value than before. The well-equipped LS remains the entry model. The new SE Value Package builds on the generous LS feature content and offers two upgrades:

SE with Sunroof Package, and SE with navigation system - the first time a navigation system has been offered in Endeavor.

Styling refinements for 2007 that enhance Endeavor's upscale appearance include color-keyed bumpers on the LS, and chrome grille trim, color-keyed door handles, side mirrors and rear license plate garnish on SE models. Endeavor LS gains premium seat fabric, and all models feature redesigned door panels.
