Mitsubishi ASX wins mid-engine Journalism Award

* New type of diesel with low compression for low fuel consumption and emissions

Hattersheim / Essen, 26 November 2010. - The Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 DI-D wins this year's mid-engine TOPAUTO Journalist Prize in the category "Off-Road".

Motoring journalists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the sixth time called the best car models launched during model year 2011 to choose to again this year to create the coveted car Quartet. A total of 80 new products were in nine categories to choose from.

The newly developed 1.8 DI-D common-rail diesel engine with an output of either 86kW/116PS or 110 kW/150 hp, DPF particulate filter becomes the first passenger car diesel engine worldwide on the inlet side of a variable valve timing (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control ) (MIVEC) and an extremely low ratios for diesel compression ratio.

Both factors are critical for the low consumption and CO2 emissions from this drive version. Both engine variants are combined with a manual six-speed manual transmission and have - for further reducing fuel consumption and CO2 - about the Mitsubishi "ClearTec" technology with automatic Start-/Stopp-System (AS-G), fuel-saving electric power steering, a regenerative braking system and a rolling resistance tires.

The all-wheel drive "AWC offers three driving modes:" 4WD Auto "with variable power distribution between front and rear axles for maximum traction in unfavorable road conditions," 4WD LOCK "for maximum wheel performance on rough terrain and the fuel-and emissions-reducing front-wheel drive mode" 2WD "for optimal driving conditions.

The price list for the 1.6-liter gasoline engine ASX begins at 17 990 €. The cheapest diesel version, the ASX 1.8 DI-D is available for € 21 490, the all-wheel versions start at € 25 790.
