Solberg stays with Citroen in 2010

Former World Rally Champion Petter Solberg has confirmed he will drive a Citroen C4 World Rally Car in this year's World Rally Championship.

The decision continues a relationship established last year when Solberg tackled most of the 2009 series in his own privately run Citroen Xsara WRC. He later accepted an offer to drive a Citroen Junior Team C4 WRC on the final two rounds.

With no manufacturer-funded seats available this year, the Norwegian will again compete as a privateer, accompanied by long-time co-driver Phil Mills.

Solberg decided to stick with the French firm after considering a switch to a Ford Focus RS WRC. He has bought two 2009 specification C4 WRCs from Citroen Racing, both of which he will use in his 2010 World Rally Championship campaign.

Solberg said: "After several, and tough, discussions with Citroen Racing, we have now come to an agreement which enables me to really fight at the top. We hope to have the full budget in place at the end of next week, and hope to present the 2010 Petter Solberg World Rally Team and sponsors just after."
